Panagbenga Tips and Panagbenga Festival 2014

Huhuhu. :((( Anyway, at least Im still trying to cope up. While doing this post, meron na din agad akong backlog na dalawa pang out of towns so expect at least 2 posts for those which I still don't know when can I blog about.

Anyway, I was back again in Baguio for the Panagbenga Festival. It's my third year celebrating Panagbenga. Nothing much new on experiences but what I always love in Baguio is the weather. Yun talaga ang binabalikbalikan ko.

Here are the photos of the floats. I didn't include those boring floats. There are floats kasi na parang mas madami pa yung damo sa flowers. Haha! Di tuloy siya maganda tignan.

Baguio's new tourist attraction, Dinosaurs Island!

 The ever energetic SLU!

My favorite float this year! NLEX!! So cuteee.
Observed her while dancing, that smile is consistent! Yung ibang bata nakasimangot na dahil siguro sa pagod but she remained smiling the whole time.
just behind the last float are people who are collecting trashes from the viewers. Nice idea!!

In my 3 year experience, medyo kabisado ko na ang mga ganap. I think I can give you some tips for your future reference.

Panagbenga Festival tips:
1. Book your hotel in advance so that you'll get it on a cheaper price. Other hotels has minimum of 3 days and 2 nights kapag Panagbenga weekend. If you'll only be staying for a night only, better look for a hotel who is accepting bookings for a night only. OR you may book through a third party like agoda.com or travelbook.ph. No minimum number of nights. medyo mahal compare kapag direct sa hotel. OR better yet, look for a transient house.

2. Buy your bus tickets in advance! If you are coming from Manila, check out the bus schedules of Victory Liner and buy your ticket at least 2 weeks before the Panagbenga weekend. That ticket is only MANILA to BAGUIO. The ticket from BAGUIO to MANILA should be bought right after you arrived in the Victory Liner Terminal in Baguio. Kapag wala nang chance sa Victory Liner, DO NOT EVER line up in Victory Liner as a chance passenger. better yet, GO TO DAGUPAN BUS LINE OR GENESIS BUS! no reservations. First come, First serve ang lahat.

3. Check out the Panagbenga schedule! Usually, Saturday Morning ang Street dance Parade and Sunday Morning ang Grand float parade. Do not get alanganin bus schedules. Baka matraffic lang kayo since closed na ang ibang daan for the parade. Marami pang ibang events kaya be sure to check the schedule so that you won't miss anything.

4. Be prepared of long walks and a lot of traffic! Long walks may be because of road closed or walang masakyang taxi sa sobrang dami din ng nagaabang or dahil sa traffic na mas mabilis pa kung lalakarin kesa magsasakyan sa sobrang traffic.

5. Prepare your clothes! Still bring pants and jackets. My on my first 2 years, di gaanong malamig. the clothes I bought are all shorts then jacket/longsleeves na lang kaya this year, ganon lang din dala ko but super lamig!!!

6. On buying pasalubong. I prefer buying sa Mines View then sa Good Shepherd since walking distance lang sila. But make sure to go there ng maaga. at least 7am or 8am kasi sobrang sobrang sobrang traffic na kapag tanghali na and yung products sa Good Shepherd ay ubusan na. Pero pwede din naman sa Public Market. Mas mahal nga lang yung Good Shepherd products dun but with other products, almost the same.

7. On partying! Nakakaloka!

8. Enjoy the festival, the fresh air, the cold weather, the food and your company!

Cebu City on a Sinulog weekend. Pit Senyor!!

WARNING: SUPER LONG POST.

I have super few chances to blog since I live a bit far away from home and weekends lang ako umuuwi, weekends lang ako may chance magblog and there are just busy weekends na di ko talaga maisingit to.

Anyway, andaming alibi? Haha. FINALLY, HERE'S MY CEBU-SINULOG EXPERIENCE!!

We booked a flight to Cebu last August, sidetrip lang namin yung Bohol (see previous post). It took us months to decide what our partial itinerary will be. So I reserved a room for us a little bit too late, when prices got high already. I booked through travelbook.ph luckyly we where able to get a not so cheap accommodation at Pacific Pensionne. The place is also good since it is located in Osmena Blvd which is included in the route of the Grand Parade.
Not a very good room overall. Mahina hanggang pawala nang signal sa Globe and Sun.
Hello there, Majo! Haha

LARSIANS BBQ
Capitol Site, Cebu City

Etong si Majo, mukang Larsians! Hahaha. Nothing very special on their barbeques. Sakto lang. Just for the sake of experience. :)
 Nakakatakam yung isaw!
The place looks like this.

Right after our dinner at Larsians, Majo and I just strolled, walk and walk and walk, rode a jeepney, bumaba sa may capitol, then lakad ulit! On our first night, we just tried to explore the main streets of Cebu on a Sinulog weekend.
Mango Avenue at night. It's around midnight already pero madami pa din tao everywhere, madami pa ding sasakyan.
Henna Tattoo offered from all corners of Fuente Osmena Circle.

Woke up early on or second day and went to Taboan Market to buy dried goods and other pasalubongs. Then we returned sa hotel to fix ourselves for our Cebu City tour and a lot more.
Again, wag nang umoutfit pa. Magaamoy danggit ka kahit anong gawin mo!
Was able to finally tried the authentic Cebu Lechon! Had lunch at Zubuchon.
Sarap infairness!!
 Majo ordered Pritchon.

LAPU-LAPU SHRINE
Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu

Since it is Majo's third time in Cebu. She toured me to the nearest historical places/tourist attractions. From Mango Avenue where we had our lunch, we rode a taxi to the shrine. At solid sa mahal ang taxi!! We paid like 300 plus, wala namang traffic at di naman gaanong kalayo. I just don't know pero parang di naman ganon kamahal dito sa manila. Haha.
 Lapu-Lapu's 20meters tall bronze statue.
 Pasalubong shopping.

Dahil para na kaming nahold-up sa mahal ng taxi papunta, we decided to just ride a jeepney back to Cebu City, particularly sa bandang Basilica. It only cost us 60 pesos for 2 jeepney rides for the 2 of us. Sayang 300 asar! Haha.

Because there are a lot of closed roads near the Basilica, the jeepney just dropped us somewhere near the Cathedral which is not very far as well with the Basilica.

CEBU METROPOLITAN CATHEDRAL
Can you see the signs that the Cathedral was also affected by the earthquake?

This is the closest we can get to the Basilica because of the pool of devotees inside and outside.

MAGELLAN'S CROSS
Santo Niño, Cebu City

FORT SAN PEDRO
A. Pigafetta St, Cebu City

ETC PAINTENSITY
Cable Car, Banilad Cebu City

What is Sinulog without parties? We were able to join ETC's Paintensity. No entrance fee, just pay for the drinks, enjoy the night and party hard and harder!!
We actually met Majo's friends, they were the one who informed us about the party.
Dugyutan levels!!

From partying till morning to watching the parade without any good sleep. Here are random photos taken in Osmena Blvd during the Grand Parade. We were able to go out of the pension house around 10am. Infairness, di pa masyadong madaming tao nun. But around lunch time, over over dami na ng tao!
Ayos! Konti pa tong nasa picture :)
 Pumarty kagabi, nalate ng gising!

We watched the parade until around lunch time, we had lunch and went back to the inn to check out. we have a 7:00pm flight back to Manila. Sobrang dami tao after lunch. Good thing the staffs of the inn helped us carry our luggages until we were able to ride a taxi. Nung naglalakad kami, others seemed to still be fresh from their houses.
