ABS-CBN with ANC (ABS-CBN News Channel) organized a debate about the Reproductive Health Bill, it was televised late Sunday night on ABS-CBN and early Monday morning on ANC. They invited known personalities to defend both sides.
Against the RH Bill were Rep. Anthony Golez, Rep. Roilo Golez, Dr. Ligaya Acosta of Human Life International, Fr. Melvin Castro of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), Atty. And on the Pro side were, Rep. Janette Garin and Rep. Edcel Lagman, two of the authors of the RH bill, Protestant Bishop Rodrigo Tano, Carlos Celdran, former Department of Health Sec. Esperanza Cabral, Beth Angsioco, and former Akbayan Rep. Risa Hontiveros-Baraquel will rally behind the Pro RH Bill. People keep on arguing about the birth controls. For me, since it’s still the choice of the couple if they want to use it or not, it's fine! It is not by the way mandatory. And they aren't saying that after the n-th child, they are no longer allowed to have another child just like in the other countries.
On abortion, the Anti side is telling that passing this Bill is equivalent to legalization of abortion in the country while the Pro side rest assured that abortion won’t be legalized after the Bill passed.
Sex Education, the Pros wanted Sex educated to be taught as early as grade1. This is okay with me as long as they hire REALLY GOOD teachers!
These are just few of the topics that they discussed. I am indeed Pro-RH Bill. I do not really understand everything about it but I guess my limited knowledge is just enough not to be against it.
