Panagbenga 2013 | Street Dance Parade | Grand Float Parade

After enjoying my Baguio experience last year during the same season, I decided to invite my girl friends to come with me this year for the Panagbenga festival. Knowing them, always on the go, we all decided to go but as it gets nearer, my family had plans of also going out of town that Panagbenga weekend and I won't be allowed join the Baguio instead of that out of town. My friends still pursued the trip and bought bus tickets ahead of time. But few days before that out of town weekend, plans were changed, the trip was cancelled and I will be able to join the Baguio trip! I immediately buy my bus ticket for Baguio and luckily I was able to get the same bus ride with my friends.

3:30am, we arrived in Baguio and went straight to Zola Resto for breakfast, met our high school batchmate, Jiggz who was also with me last year and also to watch the Street Dance Parade.

Oh Zola.
Haha.
Tao po.
Watching the parade from this window of Zola Resto.
My favorite marching band!
They also performed last year!
Super bongga talaga nila!!

Haha.

After the parade, we just took some rest and had lunch. Lunch-Burnham Park for Market Encounter and Landscape Exhibit-Botanical Garden-Wright Park-The Mansion. Looooong walks!! Traffic kahit saan, mas mabilis pa kung maglalakad. I told myself I won't visit those places anymore. Seeing it once is enough. But it was actually Majo's first time in Baguio! I felt it was necessary for me to bring her there. Lakad ulit!! Buti na lang malamig. Panalo sa sakit ng paa at binti.

Haggard moments!!

Wala nang energy from all those long walk!! Nagdinner sa Zola (yun kasi ang malapit) ng 11pm, Majo's friend and her friend's cousins came over and we had a few drinks. Haha.

From bar, tumambay lang saglit then we immediately looked for a good spot to watch. Grabe yung ibang tao, as early as 2am (papunta pa lang kami sa bar) nakapwesto na sila and they even slept along the street. Hardcore! Good thing, we saw a spot na may 2 rows ng reserved seats. Then dun na kami pumwesto sa likod nila, since sitting pretty na sila, they didn't dare to stand up just to take photos. Our spot was also just some meters away from the starting point of the parade.

Here are some of the floats I liked the most. Infairness, mas madami yung floats dati compare ngayon.
 Baguio Metamorphosis
 NLEX float
Cute float of Smart Telecommunications
Wala nang pakielam sa itsura ng float ng nakita sa Bong Revilla with the casts of Indyo.
Forever young!
Tapos si Robin Padilla naman with the casts of Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw.
 My fave, Globe Telecommunications Float.
 Tapos Gary V!
Ang mala-transformers na float ng Bioderm!
Ang mga tao after parade.

Rested after the parade, lunch, Mines View Park, tried our luck at Good Shepherd kaso ubos na Ube, stroll sa Camp John Hay, SM Baguio, Home.....
Balik sa Zola then Purple. Had a loooong night!
Sinwerte na sa 50's Diner! Finally!! Always jampacked kasi at ang haba ng waiting list, last time nasa 21st kami!
Di pwedeng walang Good Shepherd Ube na maiuuwi! Limited to 2 bottles per person nga lang :(
 Session Road in Bloom.
Session Road will be closed for a week.

See you soon, Baguio!

Ang hirap iexplain but it's really more of the experience. Nakakapagod man, it's all worth it!

Outland Adventure's The Xcelerator Zipline

Waaaah. Over over late post na!

So for our third day in Davao, we decided to go Zipline. There are other Zipline facilities within the city but we preferred going here considering the length and height. It is a 1.1km zipline which is actually divided into two. 500 meters on the first and 600 meters on the other. Height is about 400 meters.

I can't really remember how much is the fee but it was more or less Php500.
 Harness Station / Briefing Area
Fixed the harness and discussed the route that we'll be taking.
Their assurance of your safety :)
A 10-15 mins ride to the jump off point.
 Jump off point
Very minimal trek to the second and last jump off point
Cute photo of someone while on ride.
Photo courtesy of Outland Adventure's photog.
You can choose to ride in different positions. Sitting, Superman and Inverted. Had Superman on the first way and inverted on the second.
Waleeeey. Nahilo lang ako ng very light. Haha. Sitting position is still the best for you to enjoy the view :)

Haha.
Davao ulit very soon!! :D

Deca Wake Park, Davao City

As I've mentioned on my previous post, this trip was more on the chill side that's why there are only few I can blog about, actually the right term would be very few since it will only be on 3 tourist spots we went to. And because I don't have a lot of time now, 1 post per spot :)

On our 2011 trip to Davao, we went to Deca Wake Park but didn't get the chance to ride for some reasons. Story: http://chingkyquijano.blogspot.com/2011/11/from-davao-with-love-part-2.html
Passes were lost, though presented, it will still be invalid since they had a change of management :)))

We spent 2 days in Deca. Afternoon of our 2nd day and afternoon of our 3rd day. I didn't wake on the latter, over sakit ng katawan ko parang nadala ko pa sa Manila yung sakit.
May discount pa kapag home owner :)

 Rates
Cheaper than other Wake Parks

Infairness naman! Nakaikot na ako ng ilang beses! Siguro nasa pagtuturo din! Mukang water start kasi sa CWC e. :)))
No photo habang nakaride, tamad-tamaran mga kasama ko.

I find the people there super nice!! From the instructors, beginners and the professionals!! I don't know if it's just because Davaoeños are just friendly and nice or whatever. Haha.

Pero mas nabonggahan ako sa professionals!

Pro1 while on his ride coming right after me when I got knocked down somewhere in the middle
Me: Okaaaay laaaang!! :D
Ang sarcastic di ba? Hahaha.

Me: Dun sa second. (second orange something. Haha. Basta na lang!)
Pro2: Ay, ganon? Kasi...........................
Ayun, tinuruan pa ako ng techniques at nagusap pa kami ng konti. Infairness naman sakanya, alam niya yatang di ako nagbibisaya kasi nagtagalog agad siya nung kinausap niya ako.

Sarcastic man yung isa, natouch pa din ako. Kahit magaling na sila, humble pa din. :)

Another reason to love Davao, it's people!! :)
That's me! Chos!! :)))
Awesome view of Mt. Apo!!!

Deca Wake Park
Tacunan, Mintal, Davao City
http://www.decawakeboardpark.com/

If there's a sport I really wanted to be into as of the moment, it would be wakeboarding. I don't know, mas masaya pa din ang lahat kapag may tubig na involved! :)))

Like sa CWC. Nakakapagod ng bongga maglakad! :D

There's also a Deca Wake Park in Clark, Angeles, Pampanga. I just don't have any idea kung same ang rates. :)

Paradise Island Resort, Samal Island

Paradise, I was here more than a decade ago. :)

Others probably know that Davao is my Mom's hometown. And it will always be good to be back home. My mom is not really fond of travelling but she would always mention of going back to Davao kahit 3 days lang daw tapos kahit di naman mamasyal at sa bahay lang. I don't really know how it feels like but I am very happy knowing that she is also happy though we won't settle there for long.

I don't know what came into my mind and get a flight on Christmas Day. Haha. Haha. But at least we were able to celebrate Christmas Day both in Manila and in Davao. Oha!

Less tour compare to our 2011 visit.

PARADISE ISLAND PARK AND BEACH RESORT
Samal Island, Davao
http://www.paradiseislanddavao.com/

I remember going here when I was still a little kid. Dati kasi every summer vacay, umuwi kami sa Davao. Tapos dito yata kami parati dinadala. Haha. My Aunts and Uncle would say na mas okay pumunta dito. Mas maganda at mas enjoyable compare to this one super famous beach resort in Samal na super mahal din. (blind item ito. chos! haha)

Day Tour entrance fee: Php200
Ride a boat in Sasa Wharf with a minimal fare. As in sa paradise na ang baba. :)
You can also park your private vehicles sa may wharf.

 Their restaurant, beach front.
Impressive I must say, di lang basta nilagyan ng tables and chairs. Still presentable though filled.

There are also tables and beach chairs few meters away from the water.

During our vacations when I was still a kid, malinaw na malinaw sa memory ko na super mabato yung beach. As in nag-aqua shoes pa kami para di masakit sa paa. They are doing many stuffs to maintain the beauty of the resort hopefully without being too harsh to the environment. These "stuffs" are discussed in their website.
 Few of their offered amenities.

They serve good food with reasonable price.
 Grilled Tuna
 Pork Barbecue
 Chicken Barbecue
Kinilaw na di ko alam :)

Paradise also offers different shows for free just for their customers. There are regular shows and others may depend on how special the day is like Christmas Day or New Year's Eve.
 Carnival Show
Bongga mo Kuya! Haha. Ikaw na!
After the carnival show, may acoustic band pero we chose not to watch it na lang.

Thumbs up for Paradise!! Nice to be back!!
We didn't get the chance to really go around the resort. They have other amenities aside from the water sports, see website :)

MANA DAVAO / MANA CASA DE ARTES Y ANTIGUAS
J.P. Laurel Avenue

This antique shop in Davao City is known to light up the street on Christmas Season because of its spectacular Christmas display which started December of 2000. They have different themes for every year.

After having dinner with my cousins and their cousins, we just passed by Mana and didn't care to go near since it was filled with people taking pictures. It was good though!

Had a few drinks at hill top after and went home.
Btw, nice meeting you cousins of cousins. :))
